The Fullerton Hornet published 109 stories, its best output since Spring 2021. It was strong in sports coverage (45.0 percent, which was the highest in the state), especially campus sports where its 36.7 percent was second highest. Its 40 campus sports stories were fourth highest of any publication.
But it stayed current with news stories on campus and its “Over 3,000 fraudulent accounts found posing as FC students for financial aid” story was one of the standouts in the campus enrollment fraud stories that popped up around the state. Its 10 campus governance stories tied for 12th most.
It had significantly fewer community-based stories than in previous semesters, less than 1 percent (0.9 percent) compared to 4.0 percent (Fall 2022), 35.9 percent (Spring 2022), 30.8 percent (Fall 2021), 28.5 percent (Spring 2021), and 24.0 percent (Spring 2020).
It was seventh overall in multimedia stories, with audio stories leading the way.
Stories were most likely posted on weekends (30.3 percent) and postings were fairly evenly spread over mornings (30.3 percent), afternoons (34.9 percent), and evenings (31.2 percent). The publication posted frequently, nearly two out of every three days (64.7 percent), which was third best.
The site drew 15.0k visitors each month.
