Online Elsewhere End-of-semester Report Spring 2026   By Richard Cameron   Spring 2026 was anything but a dull semester for California community college student online news publications. Fifty-one online publications posted just under 5,000 stories that not only covered regular campus news but: A cyberattack that closed down Canvas across the country right as many colleges were entering their finals.   A crowded statewide primary gubernatorial election. Student government elections, several of which had to be tossed out or were otherwise controversial, largely because of lack of transparency by school officials. A variety of music festivals across the state. Increasing rancor over the use of artificial intelligence programs, especially in the classroom. The advent of women's flag football in community college sports.
