DeAnza LaVoz

The DeAnza LaVoz published 138 stories over one of the longest publication windows in the state (19 weeks), nearly double the output from previous semesters as it climbed closer to pre-pandemic levels. It was ninth in most stories and 14th in weekly average with 7.3 stories per week.

It was strong in use of opinion stories overall and campus opinion stories in particular. Its 13 campus opinion stories tied for second most in the state. A noteworthy example was its “Ghost students create rigged system for community colleges opinion feature story.

Its 19 campus governance stories also tied for second most in the state. And it utilized multimedia, primarily audio, more than most publications. Its 16 multimedia stories were sixth most.

Students posted on a regular pattern, posting 54.1 percent of the possible days, or every other day. That was sixth best in the state. Efforts paid off as its 33.3k visitors each month ranked third most.

Since it posted every other day, postings were spread throughout the week, but were strongest on weekends (23.9 percent) and Wednesdays (22.5 percent). More than half (52.2 percent) of stories were posted in the evenings.
